A little pre-Halloween trick or treating with Kate the bee, Leia the kangaroo, and Aidan the skeleton.

We went on a leaf hunt with the Turner family. The girls had a great time romping in the late afternoon sun. We found a good deep pile of leaves perfect for kicking, throwing, and running through. Glad to have some fall photos of the girls. Thanks for bringing the camera Bryn!

Our meals this week have revolved around this cookbook. So far I have tried: Chicken with Dijon Vin Blanc Sauce, Blueberry Crepes, Moroccan Lentil Salad, Chicken with Black Beans and Tomatillo Salsa, and Grilled Chipotle Pork. Tonight is Chicken with Capers and Tomatoes.

Thank God for child labor. Without her I would have thrown the vacuum out in the rain. I HATE child outlet protectors.

Leia is napping, I'm washing dishes, and Kate is coloring quietly at the table....or so I think. As I turn off the dishwater I realize the house is eerily quiet. I call out for Kate, in response I get a stern "Don't check on me!" coming from the bathroom. Alright, I can respect privacy. When she yells out the same statement again I realize she is being sneaky about something and doesn't want me to know. I wait patiently for her to emerge from the bathroom. This is what greeted me:

Not to mention her legs and feet. She told me she wanted to look like the cheerleaders at the football game we went to Friday. They had face tattoos. She was on the verge of tears knowing she had been naughty and anticipating punishment. I cut her some slack and used it as a teaching moment. Now I am off to invest in face tattoos.

When you can't see your BFF in person it's nice of her to send you a song and dance to watch on tv. Thanks Willow, Kate needed you this morning.

A blueberry crepe kind of morning.

Definitely going on the "make again" list.

This one and I went on a date to watch a friend play high school football. It was Homecoming night so she was psyched up for fireworks. There weren't any and I was disappointed. She almost cried but held it together. It was still a fun adventure. Silly me, I bundled her up for the cool weather and she was next to naked 20 min into the game. Oh well.

Clearly this little dancing sprite is feeling better. Thank goodness.

At some point a Vegas post will be made, until then I am skipping the 4 days we were gone and picking up from when we got back. Which was a pretty gross slap back into parenthood. Leia caught a stomach bug and puked 4 times. It was disgusting and left 2 car seat carcasses and a reeking dining room chair in it's wake.

115/365- an ice cream social.

The girls and I had a busy morning and were rewarded with a tasty lunch excursion. We hit Snoqualmie Gourmet Ice Cream in Maltby. They had yummy sandwiches and we met up with some good company. There was enough of us to warrent a kids table. Knowing ice cream was only a few feet away they did a good job of eating sandwiches first.

Pre lunch play:

Crazy lighting, crazy good ice cream:

Pumpkin for the pumpkin:

Toasted coconut for the crazy eyed girl (who felt spoons were overrated and ate straight from the bowl):

We'll get around to carving pumpkins but for now painting them is a sufficient substitute.

After a rousing ballet lesson we hit the park with Kate's dancing buddy Willow D. The girls spent 30 min at the playground and then realized the skate park was the place to be. They spent the next 30 min running up and down the ramps and using them as slides. Impressively after 30 min none of them had scraped knees or hands. It was a good morning.

Hitting the Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday we went on an excursion with Leia's friends Sophia and Shea to find pumpkins. We chose The Farm in Snohomish. It was a great choice. The kids loved all the farm had to offer. It was a great Fall morning outside.

We spent the morning at The Farm in Snohomish with some friends and Opa. The girls had a lot of fun, there are a ton of pics to sort through, and we all came home muddy.
Best conversation of the trip:
K: Look mom Nathan is here. Me: No he's not, we're meeting Leia's friends. K: Mom he's wearing an orange shirt. Me: No honey, Nathan isn't here. K: Mom, can I go say hi to Nathan? Me: Sweetie, I told you Nathan isn't here today.
This is the point where I turn around and find Nathan and his mom and brother behind me. Whoops. My bad.

Kate and 5 of her closest buddies (Calder not pictured) did a .5 mile Kids Dash today at the PACE race in Kirkland. It was an awesome experience to introduce her to running. All the kids had a great time and got medals at the end. Super proud mom right here.

Whoa! Clearly I have been off the blogging radar. Here's a bit of catching up on the last week and then some. Sorry!
