Whoa! Clearly I have been off the blogging radar. Here's a bit of catching up on the last week and then some. Sorry!

The girls and I (plus some friends) went to Guemes Island for two days and made it there in time for a quick beach explore before dinner.

102/365
Leia practiced her balance beam work she has been learning in gymnastics class.

103/365
On the way home from Guemes we stopped to celebrate Claire's 3rd birthday. Woohoo!

104/365
Car sleeping. Comfy, no?

105/365
A day at the arboretum with (most) of the Scrivner's. It was a great fall day for a hike along the bridges.

106/365
Sounder's win the U.S. Open Cup!!!! Awesome night to be at a game.

107/365
SO excited about her new swim suit from Gigi.

Hanging with Uncle Chuck and using tomatillos as an educational tool. Counting, color identification, sorting....

I will make a better attempt this week to blog regularly. =)

Today I did a hike with the girls that was one of my favorite's as a kid. The drawback: it's in Eugene, OR. The bonus: We're in Eugene. OR for a few days! We did the hike with a good friend and her 3 small kids. We did not truly anticipate making it to the top so it was a pleasant surprise when the kids made it easily up. The last 1/4 mile is a rock scramble over big boulders and flat slabs. Kate was dirty from head to toe. Somehow the boys stayed mostly clean. We decided to try the steep short trail on the way down. We got in a little over our heads but everyone persevered and made it down safely. It's not an adventure until your heart is racing!

In case you're wondering, Leia's mouth is full of Mango. It was a good bribe to get all the kids up the hill.

Road Trip

We took a family road trip to Portland, OR last weekend. We got to see our good friends the Scrivners and play in the sun. We also made a very important stop for...doughnuts!

Kate got a doughnut covered in frosting and Fruit Loops, Scott had a Bacon Maple Bar (yup you read that right!), and I had the highly recommended Banana Fritter (it sounds like it has nutritional value but was covered in chocolate sauce, caramel, peanut butter, chocolate chips, and crushed peanuts). We were all in a sugar coma but it was worth the experience.

Enjoying her doughnut one fruit loop at a time.

Next stop: Jamison Park with Marianne and the boys.

Let's hit the water!

Soren cooling off in the fountain.

Kate loving the waterfall action.

A sensory foot experience.

Marianne trying not to get wet as Elliot decides the water is not for him.

Staying dry on the rocks. Elliot changed his mind about the water after a little bit and had a great time splashing with Kate.

Checking out another part of the waterfall.

After all this fun we stopped in at the Action Sports Expo to watch some skateboarders do tricks and meet up with Andrew. Then off for the drive home. Whew what a trip!
