Today

Today I love being a mom. The girls and I bolted out of the house early to play at the mall climbing area. It is fantastic, new, and huge. Plus when you are there an hour before the mall opens no one else is! They climbed for an hour. Kate made friends and went off with them to climb. Leia did some amazing climbing, I'm a little dumbfounded at the things she scampered up.
After the workout we hit the Pankcake House for brunch. Breakfast sausage is all these girls want to eat right now so it hit the spot. Then we headed home for some closet reorganizing (my idea of zen). Leia conked out for a 2+ hour nap so Kate and I had some great one on one time. When Leia got up Kate crawled into bed and has been down for an hour, which gives Leia some rare mommy time. One quick errand and an afternoon in the playroom will round out the day nicely. Plus I get to sneak out before bedtime for MNO at the gym followed by the sauna. Oh yeah and when I get up tomorrow....snowboarding!! Seriously, today is a GOOD day!

Leia is trying like mad to master talking. Yesterday she blurted out Happy and Opa. There was also a fairly decent sounding Help and an entertaining Bow Wow Wow.
Physically she is working on transitions when walking, take a step up or step down without holding on. Kate helped teach her somersaults yesterday. Slides at the park are her new thrill ride. She can't get enough and really loves when she can climb up to the top on her own. She is working on climbing the laddar in the play pit and soon will be able to do all the slide she wants!
It amazes me how much such a little person can master at once. Leia is always challenging herself and is proving to be quite a determined spirit.

Kate is in sponge mode as well. She is learning letter identification and sounds and makes leaps and bounds before I realize it. Her speech and sentence structure has improved as well. I feel like she turned into a 3 year old in the last few weeks even though she has 2 more months before her birthday.

3 will be a huge milestone for me. For some reason that is a hard concept to grasp. Maybe by the time her birthday rolls around I will be ready for it. For now I am a bit stunned she has been around for 3 years.

The Great Green Room

After some separation anxiety and loneliness issues emerged we decided it was time the girls share a room. It is an experiment I honestly thought I would never try but it seems like the right choice. We moved Kate into Leia's room (so we didn't have to dismantle and reassemble to crib) and they are now cozy bedroom buddies. Aside for a hiccup (reading: puking incident) or two it has gone smoothly and they seem pretty happy with the plan. Here are some pics of the new arrangement:

The red room will now be the playroom, though I hesitate to do much set- up until I am convinced the girls are settled with sharing.
