Kid curiosity can lead to great discoveries. While attempting to peel carrots one handed with Leia on my hip I struggled to keep her out of the sink and fingers intact. Finally it dawned on me that all she wanted was to play with the shavings. The solution: plunking her in her high chair and shaving the carrots on her tray. That bought me a good 10 min of 2 handed cooking while she played with the shavings. A few ended up on the floor and in her hair but freedom would have been worth it even if she flung them all over the kitchen!
